Hi, i know i'm probably worrying about nothing here but i notice in the brochures that if you need medical treatment it has to be paid for in cash and not through your insurance. Has anyone been unfortunate enough to have medical treatment in Borovets?
When I used medical treatment (France) I had to pay up front and claim everything back, Make sure you get any receipts and bills (ie rental/lessons/drugs) and it shouldn't be a problem.
One problem I can forsee is that no one seems to like taking credit cards over there!
we are also going to borovets (tomorrow) I have made some enquiries and it seems that there are cash points available in borovets, so if you do need extra cash it is not to difficult to get it. hope you have a fab time and don't need to use the medical services.
As with most countries not participating in the E111 scheme (and a few that do) minor lumps bumps cuts and scrapes that you see the Doctor at the medical centres for then you pay up front and claim it back through your insurance, however if its something that needs the snow ambulance etc then your rep may be able to help out by getting your insurance company to pay.
Borovets has 2 chemists for pain releif , bandages etc - if you get a knock try them first before the Doctor.
I had a major tumble 27th Dec & had to visit the Doctor in the Rila, Treatment consisted of 1 jab in the Bum, 3 day suppy of pain killers, 20 min massage for 3 days & then back on the slopes just in time for the fresh snow,
Total cost to me was 50 Quid & they sorted the rest out with my medical insurance company.
nearly forgot, one insurance form I had to fill in when I got home.
last year in borovets i had to be taken to samakov town hospital for treatment for a head injury stitches lots of drugs to take back a few days later to remove some of them? 50 pounds excess to pay in cash make sure you read your policy all the doctor done was photo copy the policy and got me to sign it he done the rest prob.cost the insurance company a lot but what the hell thats why you take out insurance regards B.W.
Son spent 7 days in Bourgas hospital, only had to pay first £50 which was the excess on the insurance, they sorted out the rest, imagine it was a hefty sum for the whole stay, x-rays, ct scans, drugs(well, when they had some!!).
