Advanced Skiing Options in Bansko

I've read most of the posts so far on this website, and it seems that Bansko is good for intermediates and beginners, but advanced skiers will get bored after a few days? Is that a correct assessment? I've heard that there is good off-piste skiing. Has anyone done that? The only problem with that is how do you get back to the mountain? I also read somewhere I think, that they do heli-skiing tours for 40-50 euros. I would appreciate any responses. I'm going there in February, and ...

re: Advanced Skiing Options in Bansko

What? Bansko is by far the best resort for more intermediate and advanced skiers, and that is just the pistes! There is some really awesome off-piste terrain if you know where to look. In fact, the locals say that around 70% of the off-psted terrain still hasn't been explored!!

I guess that's my question, when you go off-piste, do you have to hike it back to the main trails, or is it easy to come back? Anyone can explore off-piste terrain if you're willing to snow-shoe to those spots, but I was curious if there were heli-skiing options, or defined ways to hit these locations? Let me know. Thanks

Heli-skiing is available in Bansko Obie but I'm not sure of the costs and details.

I haven't seen any heli-skiing in Bansko but like Talkbansko says, it is available.
Everyone, including the locals, tend to hike/climb up the various ridges from the top chair lifts, find the line they want to ski and then either link up with one of the pisted runs or when they get to the bottom you walk over to the nearest lift - can be quite a walk depending on your line.

There is also some good powder tree lines next to almost all of the pisted runs which are also very popular in ...

Make sure your legs are well fit and strong and you will have a great time in Bansko!
