Advice needed

We are thinking of going skiing for the first time in December, probably 26/12/04 for a week, we are all beginners but wanted to know the best place to go at this time of year.
From all the write ups I've seen Bansko seems the best choice but can anyone advise please.
Bulgaria does seem a lot cheaper than other European countries but does this mean the standard is less.

Help appreciated

Hi

I would agree, some nice green runs for begineers, resort was nice - as loud or as quiet as you want it, I went with wife and 9yr old and she (9yr old) was dog tired at night having skiied all day so was great - I was up crack of dawn gagging to get on the piste for 9 so I could have a ski down the mountain before the lesson, and also got time after the lessons had finished to have another go down the mountain.

Next year the wall for me..

I have just got back from Pamps and I can totally recommend it for beginners. Pete's right on the button. Slopes, instructors and apre are all good and value for money.

Gazza,

Can't comment on what the snow will be like in December, I think it was a bit hit and miss for all of the resorts in Bulgaria this year.

But I have just come back from Bansko and it was fabulous. Can highly recommend it for beginners. The ski school was great. Did not have to queue for anything (lifts, food, equipment drinks). The new gondola is great, beautiful 25 min ride up the mountain each morning with stunning views. The equipment is all new.

I have been skiing once ...

I have been skiing once before in Austria about 4 yrs ago. Did not learn to ski. In Bansko on my 4th day I skied a blue run in powder snow. Magical.

I could rave on and on. If you want any mor info on Bansko just reply to this and i will get back to you.
