Hey Guys,
As previous post we are all booked up for march, Am after some advice on knee supports? Hurt my knee last year, caught a bump unawares and had a wierd spin/half fall! Manged to borrow a really nice knee support off my partners ski instructer which allowed me to continue for the rest of th holiday (pretty much pain free!)
Wondered if anyone had any advice/experience of some good knee supports, I need my knee to be held stable and quite firm!?
Have been to my dr to ask his advice but as i didnt have swie flu he wasnt interested!!
Cheers Guys,
dont ask a doctor, try a local physio, they should be able to recomend something decent to suit. Might be worth booking a session, talk through what happened, let him/her do a bit of manipulation and then get them to suggest the right support for you
I use a neoprene one with velcro straps that you can get from most good sports shops after twisting both my knees over the years. If its a serious enough injury you might benefit from a custom made one. The greatest thing you can do however is to use the next 5 months to get fit - you can taken up to 30% of the pressure off the joint through the muscles. I'd pay the money for a proper private consultation as if you do need some keyhole surgery there is enough time for it to heal if you do ...

As Mat said get fit. Do some squats. lunges, crunches and back arches to build up your quads, legs, and core muscles. Stonger muscles will help you to stay balanced when skiing.
