Bulgaria Ski discussion board

I would be grateful to hear any suggestions for 2 different types of ski resort in Bulgaria to go on 2 different types of holiday next year...

Resort One

Has the best or will have the widest skiing terrain - particularly for beginners and intermediates

Has the biggest plans for resort and mountain development

Is a nice place to take a young family to learn to ski

I would also like to know a different kind of resort ...

- one to take the boys for a lads week of skiing where the skiing is widespread, more advanced and where the apres ski is lively and cheap

We have been to Borovets for the last 2 years. We are a young family - well the kids are not so sure about their Dad 8 and 6 when we skiied this February.

Last year we made use of the Inghams kindergarten which was excellent. This year the children aslo used the ski school. I stayed with the children and my husband skiied in a more intermediate group and joined us for 2 days. This suited us very well but a lot of children choose toski in the kids only groups - very flexible and the choice is yours.

We have found both experiences excellent. The children have been well catered for during the evenings in the restaurants and the Bulgarians have been brilliant with them. The children have also felt comfortable in their company and feel that they have made lots of ne friends. From what I understand on this site the same could be said for all the resorts.

We have found as beginner skiers last year that there was plenty of scope for us all on the slopes and there is still more we haven't done. The children enjoyed the nursery slopes in the village as well as those at the top of the gondola and our 8 year old also skiied down from the 4 man chair lift.

A lot is planned for Borovets over the next 2 years but I assume this is all down to finance so it will probably be a matter of wait and see but rest assured there is plenty there if the develpoment doesn't materialise all at once.

Even though Borovets is obviously a haunt for all ages and single sex groups as well we never felt intimidated in anyway being there as a family.
