Bit of a virgin skiing never tried it before so would just like a abit of advice, which resort is the best for familys and young children 5 yrs, and are self catering or hotels the best to stay in, any info would be great thanks
Hiya, I've gone to Borovets the last few years, so I can't comment on other resorts.
Borovets does seem to cater to everyone, from the very beginers to the advanced. And there are plety of kids there and most of the instructors are very patient and their English is very very good (well better than my Bulgarian).
I've only gone half board, so basically only have to pay for your lunch. Plus it's nice waking up and getting breakfast in the hotel and straight out on the slopes. But if you ...

But if you didn't fancy that there are plety of places to eat and has never been very expensive. You can have a 2 course meal (servings are usually a plenty) and a few beers for under £7.
Thanks for ths info Bob as i said its all new to me and the family will keep your info in mind, top of my list is for the kids as long as there happy we are too!!!!
Hi, we went to Bankso last year without our two children who are now 3 and 5. I did check out their ski kindergarten at the top of the gondola and heard that it wasn't as good as it could be, ie not that much time spent outside playing etc but it looked ok. The ladies running it seemed friendly enough but if you want to get your 5 year old skiing maybe not the best place.

This year we are taking them away with us although the little one is probably a bit little!! We have looked into it and are going to give Borovets a try as I have heard really good things about the Inghams nanny service there. It is really reasonable we thought about £80 quid for 6 days and I have heard that they are encouraged to ski a fair bit and get to build snowmen and do bum boarding etc! We will probably not leave the kids in for the whole day but at least for a couple of hours to give us some time too! Knowing them though they will want to stay in for the full day and be with the other kids as they do face painting etc. Bansko is lovely and I would certainly go back but I think when the kids are older and they can ski.
Inghams have a website or you could pick up their brochure in travel agents. Hope that helps! Dawnx
Thanks alot for that advice Dawn , gosh its so hard dont no where to go for the best , i love SB sunshine and sand but just fancy a change, my hubby hates the heat and took an instant disliking to Sunny Beach ! so will see what info comes up and maybe i will be brave and have a go at skiing
first time skiing pamps is possible the best resort, nice easy slopes and you gain confidence very quickly. First time I would go hotel half board, simply because you can come off the slopes completely knackered as you spend most of the first few days picking yourself up, you dont have to think about tea as you can fall onto your bed then and quick shower and down for tea, no need to walk anywhere to eat which can be bliss when your legs are killing you. If you dont want to eat in all the time the resturants are so cheap you dont mind going out and paying a few nights.
Have been to both Borovets and Pamps and would highly recommend the two, both resorts cater for beginners and we had young children with us where there was always plenty for them to do. If you choose either of these two resorts you wont be disappointed.
Hi Merv, depends on what you want to know. We did a DIY holiday booked our flights with wizz air really cheap, only cost £100 for the two of us return but flew from Luton, no great shakes there. We then stayed at the Hotel Avalon which is a small and very friendly hotel about 10 min walk to gondola and it is great as it is run by James who is English and his Bulagarian wife. Only costs about £25 a double room per night and james will arrange you a taxi transfer from Sofia airport which ...

Bansko is a good sized town, it is very traditional and has lovely feel to the place. As you walk along you can smell their wood burning stoves and the old ladies are out sweeping their paths. There are ample restaurants which are so cheap and great food. Skiing I have to say we thought was brilliant and you wouldn't know that you weren't in the Alps. Loads of snow, brand new lift systems are for us who are intermediates, plenty of runs to challenge us. The 15km ski road back down is brilliant at the end of the day if you don't fancy getting the gondola back down, very scenic through the trees, plus the longest run I have ever done. Ski hire cheap as were private one to one lessons about £20 for 2 hours for both of us. Don't know what else, if you think of anything let me know!
