having read the notice about the conditions at plovdiv airport, which sounds reminisant of grenoble in france 15 years ago, i have tyo ask is the airport at sofia any better? And is the duty free shop there also empty?

Hi Daytun,
Sofia is an international airport and is much better equiped .
Plovdiv airport was not on the aviation list when I first flew there, my understanding is that it was a militery airfield hence no facillities.
After reading the report I see that they have now installed a toilet!

Plovdiv is 90 minutes from Pamporovo.
Sofia is at least 4 hours.

I can suffer a naff loo for 2 1/2 hours saved on a bus.

Maybe the cleaner was sick when you went as I have travelled through Plovdiv at least 8 times and never had any cause for complaint.

there were plenty of cleaners - but i think they had run out of JIF!

like you say however saving of travel time ok, just need to be prepared for conditions next time....

(baby wipes might be a good idea - or perhaps just more vodka!)

thanks for that unfortunantly the 4 hour transfer i have no choice in, chaRTER FLIGHT I CAN ONLY GO TO THE AIRPORT THEY LAND AT.
