Alcohol - Question for P Pete

I am a little worried about the trip up the mountain on the bus/coach and though a little relaxant might help, but can you drink alcohol on the bus/coaches in Bulgaria or is it illegal as in most of the rest of Europe. Don't want to break any laws.

Most rules in Bulgaria are far more relaxed than in the UK.If you are drinking on the coach to quell your fear rather than trying to get drunk and upset other people then I am sure you will be OK.

Bulgarians do not favour loutish behaviour (present company excluded) and they tend to deal with it quickly and efficently.

Rakia is the local spirit, no amount of explaination from me would do it justice. You just gotta try it.

Raika is a local grape brandy, but is sweeter more like a schnaps. bulgaria is very good for wines and brandy/schnaps. (sorry Im in Alcohol promotions for a living.)

So it is allow to drink alcohol in public transport, if you are not the driver.

The drink is called Rakia and not Raika..... and is not sweet, it is a strong sometimes if it is a good quality smooth....

And don't drive with people if you don't know them and there possibilities of driving, when they drunk spirits....

Drinking in Bulgaria of any type at any time is highly illegal.

You run the risk of being arrested and deported to Romania where you will be used as a gimp for the anti Bulgarian society in Bucarest.

Please do not drink whilst in Bulgaria - you may ruin your life!
