Alternative way up the mountain

There seems to be a lot of people say the queue for the gondola in Bansko can be quite big so wondered if there are others ways up the mountain or times to try and avoid

Thanks

Peak time would be first lift and after lunch, I have heard some get a taxi up Wink

Thanks Arron

Do all taxis have space for ski equipment or do you need to book specific ones. Dont want to be too rushed to get there before the queue and if it then saves queing it seems a good way to go.

There are mini-buses that will take you up at peak times, but it depends when you're going. We're past the Xmas and New Year rush, so as long as you avoid half-term, you'll be fine.

Easy to get any taxi, gear goes in the boot and what a fun ride it can be, hand brake turns and two of us had to sit in the front to keep the weight over the taxi front wheels, a hoot. Or cheaper to taxi to Chalin Valog enjoy that first thing in the morning then jump on gondola half way up the mountain.

re: Alternative way up the mountain

The `queue' is not general, and normally only a concern around Christmas/new year and half term... At the moment there are no queuing issues. National holidays from surrounding countries can effect the numbers also, difficult to predict as the rising visitor numbers make it a shooting match... Ulen are expecting around a 15% rise this season, the numbers to date may well confirm that..
Hopefully with the acceptance of the development rezoning within the Pirin National Park the second town ...

Hopefully with the acceptance of the development rezoning within the Pirin National Park the second town uplift will become a reality after 2013...
