Android ski apps

Hi all. I'm looking to find a good app to use in Borovets to track my ski runs, speed and distance, etc. I've always had an iPhone before but can't find the same app I used on that.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

We're there 3 weeks today...... Can't wait!!!!!!

re: Android ski apps

Ski Tracks is the best one I have found. Only tracks using GPS so no data roaming.... There is a free version available to try out.

re: Android ski apps

I used to use (and still do at some resorts) Satski. But unfortunately it doesn't include Borovets. But last year in Borovets, I just used My Tracks for general GPS logging. But it doesn't give you the piste map or run names etc... Just general info like ascent, descent, average speed, top speed altitude etc...

I don't know of any Android app that includes the lifts and runs on android.

Been using 'Maprika' for a couple of seasons. You can download piste maps (Borovets included) on Wifi then when on the slope you can disable Data and just use GPS to track you on the pre-downloaded map for free. Pretty awesome at the end of the day to see where you've been on an overlay of the official piste map. Completely free, not just a stripped down version which tries to get you to buy a premium version.

re: Android ski apps

Yeah... It has this trick Google map overlay bit, but can't figure out how that bit works.
It will probably need a GPS lock in the area for it to be fully functional too.

All this is obviously fully reliant on the GPS capability of your chosen phone/device to be up to scratch.
I am already thinking of taking my old HTC Desire along with the app installed as the GPS was massively better on that phone than it is on my current HTC One X!

re: Android ski apps

With Maprika, the piste maps you download must have co-ordinates mapped to them so that the GPS can pinpoint your position relative to that map. I did notice last year that you can manually re-set your position on the map in case it is off, but it seemed fine for me from the start.
