Any tips for 1st timer?!! Boro 14th Jan

Hello all!
I'm off to Borovets on the 14th Jan form Cardiff (via Birmingham!) Anyone else on the same flight?

It's my first time skiing - my husband has been once before - with school about 15 years ago though!!! Any tips for what to take/do/where to go?!!!

We've booked a beginner's ski package - I'm sure I'll break a leg or something - I've already warned work I might need another 6 weeks off when I get back!!!

We are both really excited though - just hope it snows again soon!!!!

you will have a brilliant time!! Join the ski school, there you will meet plenty of people. Go out explore the night life, even if you are hb at hotel try some of the restaurants around the resort they are really nice. Def go on the ski doo, great fun. We also went to a bulgarian house for a night organised through our ski instructor that was really good too. When i went weren't sure what to take for the evenings but most girls wear jeans and top not too dressy, but may have chnaged now ...

I went last Jan. Had the best experience of my life. I'd say stay in the Rila if you can. It wasn't too cold when i went so you could just wear normal clothes in the evening (obviously with a jumper). It hadn't snowed for two weeks, but the conditions were fine. That mountain is perfect for beginners. I wouldn't recommend getting injured though as it's a poor country and I hear the hospitals don't have the same quality of hygiene as ours. I couldn't big up this place any more, the only ...

I couldn't big up this place any more, the only downside is if you're experienced, it could be limiting. Such a personal atmosphere though it's like everyone is your friend

Just to add. You WILL get hastled by the locals more than three times to go to 'The Best Restaurant' in Bulgaria. But you have to consider this country is much poorer than ours and in order for them to make money they have to get custom. You'll find that when you eventually give in to the annoyance you'll have the best meal and they treat you like royalty.
Kapoha bar: The funniest people i've probably ever met.

Jimmys Bar: Friendly, Nice food, I've never seen so many tables in storage. ...

The Beef House (I think that's what it's called): Located on the right as you come out of the Rila. Best food here. Take a flag from your county in and they'll put it on the roof with all the others Smile Smile

Not on the same flight but we are going on the same day, can't wait, I'm expecting to be going @rse over t1t a few times but should be a good laugh. From what I've heard Boro caters for just about everything you could want, we are travelling with 2 children (8 & 3) so expect we will be busy 24/7! Just need to make sure we leave a few hours spare for Booze

Re comment on being injured. My daughter (13) hurt her leg and had to be skidoed off the slopes. Treatment was excellent, quick and speedy. The hospital/clinic was clean - english was a bit of a problem but they sorted her out no problem
