Anyone been skiing in Slovenia?

Hey Guys,
Sorry to hijack the Bulgaria forum with this but I'm struggling to find info on Slovenia. Anyone know what the ski resorts there are like?
I'm heading there for a weekend in early March and wondered if anyone knows which is the best resort - and how they compare to Bulgarian resorts in terms of skiing, price, restaurants etc.
I think that Kranjska Gora and Bohinj look like my best options (most skiing and close to Ljubljana) but am not sure.
I'd be very interested to hear from ...

I'd be very interested to hear from anyone that could compare these places to Bansko as a benchmark that I know and love! Very Happy

Thanks,
Matt

re: Anyone been skiing in Slovenia?

Hi Matt
Skiied there may years ago - stayed at Bohinj. Kranska looked very busy as we drove through, but raining (in March) Snow still great at Bohinj - end of road and at that time no other hotels in area. They were replacing the gondola at that time and you can ski down to bottom, but may not be enough snow later in season. Skiing good - varied runs. If you're going for a weekend - suggest Kranska as nearer, tho Bohinj very scenic.

Have skied in Kranska Gora a few years ago, stayed right on the bottom of the slopes, lovely hotel with good facilities. Not as cheap as BG, but has its own type of atmosphere, the little bars tucked away near the slopes are great. The skiing was not particularly well linked when i was there, bottlenecks especially at busy times, but these were being spoken about and improvements were planned. The opportunity to ski in Italy and Austria is open for you as both are very near, not much more than a taxi journey, and made easier now because of EU membership. The only downside was the transfer, nearly 5 hours from Salzburg... Would i go again ?? doubtful, but i did enjoy my time there...
