I came back on Friday and all the main runs are in A1 condition. To ski off piste and some of the lesser used link runs they will need more snow. The ski road to town is fine it is served by cannons and there is an excellent base there.
Got back yesterday - the main ski ris getting a bit icy in parts. Its an enjoyable run though but was very very busy as it was half term week and there were lots of accidents with people muling down and knocking others over (me included!) so take your time or leave it til about 5pm when it quietens down
yes it was a bit icy in parts. This was due to the glorious sunshine we had for most of the week. The runs at Chalin Valog were virtualy empty. It is very quiet at 5 because the lifts finish working then.
Was there today. Run 12 is closed due to the piste wearing through, Tomba and its feeder (Run 3) are also closed in preparation for a competition. Be careful to check whether the top lift from the Tomba mid station is open if you're a beginner attempting to get to the blue runs on the other side of the mountain - if they aren't (like today) you'll have to come down red runs that are increasingly icy. Bit of a massacre. Generally the pistes are holding up well because of the very cold ...

Bit of a massacre. Generally the pistes are holding up well because of the very cold temperatures but are getting icy and compacted and we could do with more snow soon. Piste 10 (the far blue) is spankingly good and the best of the bunch. ski road is fine, but dull. The re-opened chain valog offers some sphincter challenging blacks that make the wall in Pamporovo look like a short blue. Hard and sheer. Watch for the out of control Russians.
