Just read an article from 15th Dec 2001, seemed like they had the same worries then, but it all worked out fine.

1st time I went to bulgaria / pamporovo I was really concerned about the snow as when we were going there by bus there was barely any virtually until we were in the resort and it was bucketing with rain, but then all of a sudden there was heaps of the stuff, the skiing was fantastic with a nice sprinkling of fresh snow every evening just top up the almost perfect pistes we had for the entire week.
