As I end the Season!

I had never been to Bulgaria before, never skied it! I am an experienced skier of many years, having skied all over the world (expences paid for a while!), I booked last year because I had spent so much the previous year taking my two kids to France, and objected to paying ten quid for a pint and two cokes! yep the ski-ing was good but I remained around the area the kids were, cos I get pleassure from seeing them enjoying themselves.(waste of lift pass )

The week in France got me two weeks in Borovets ,and I was a little unsure at first, then I found this web site, and they (you), answered all my questions before I left. I was well prepared of what to expect, and started to actually think," Hey this may be ok".
I was not let down, the kids had a great time, I found new friends who i look forward to meeting again next year, we all had plenty of skiing (enough for me to see the kids progress), and we came home with cash (not like France!!).
Indeed we went out for another week in March!
People may knock it, but you get what you pay for, and providing your of the oppinion of lets sample the culture and make it a holiday rather than look for faults, (theres been a few of those people over the months!), you will really enjoy a visit to Bulgaria, or Borovets as i speak.
I can not, and will not (though I would) fault the service, attmosphere, friendlieness, and hospitality of the resort of Borovets and Samokov Hotel. I look forward to our visit Jan 15th next year,
Untill the kids can do everything quite well, we will be returning, but by then it may be even better? who knows?
Thanks to everyone who has given me information over the last 6 month or so, its appreciated!
Ian (&kids!)

re: As I end the Season!

At last an experienced skier who has found something nice in Bulgaria. Well, I thought it is not that bad. I am sure it will continue to get better for a few more seasons, then who knows? There are grand plans for Borovetz and it is the biggest mountain, so perhaps one day I might go there for a day to check it out.

re: As I end the Season!

It's been a great ski season, Borovets was as I expected it and a real time to just chill. Let's hope it stays that way

I like your attitude Ian.

We too have enjoyed Borovets as a family ski resort. Being affordable has meant that we have been able to go with the children and watch them make tremendous progress - less said about my progress the better!!

The way we differ from you is that we too were beginners in Borovets and therefore have nothing to compare it too. We feel we're onto a good thing but do't have any of our own evidence to confirm it, if you see where we are coming from.

Simon in particular is keen to try somewhere different. I'll let you know if I can persuade him otherwise!

re: As I end the Season!

You said you are looking at returning to borovets on the 12 or the 15th of january 06. I think you should consider either going later or going to Bansko. For one Borovets snow get better later on in early feb to march. I worked this season there as a ski rep so i know the snow. Bansko is reallly good up to date better equipment and better snow. Just thought i would let you know as snow was really bad in January.
