Average depth

Steve here again. Very much a new-comer to the skiing lark and looking forward to my week at the Rila on 28th Jan, Borovets.

I see Boro is due a few cm's of snow over the next few days which is good. I was just wondering what the average depth of snow was for Boro say in mid ski season? I read on websites that at some resorts over the globe they have average depths of snow ranging from a few metres to a few cm's. Am i likely to see grass poking through the snow on the slopes in Boro for example in late January?

Cheers for any info.

re: Average depth

On my first trip to the top of the mountain in Boro, I thought I can't be bothered to queue to visit the small hut, with the smelly hole in the floor, so would just nip behind a tree just off the edge of the piste...... It's amazing how quickly you sink up to your waist!! Smile

Try testing the depth at the edge of the piste with your ski pole! Then you realise that the small trees you can see are about 3 feet tall and you can just see the top few inches.
