BOOKED WITH BALKAN FOR BANSKO 2005 IN MARCH FLYING FROM GLASGOW NOW ON THE 13 MAY WITHDRAW THE FLIGHT DUE TO POOR SUPPORT MMMMMMMMMM ITS SUMMER NOW HAVE TO GO NEWCASTLE OR MANCHESTER re: BALKAN RIP OFF
At least it's not like Thomson/Crystal who change your flight by 24 hours, issue the wrong tickets, forget to put on your ski pack, forget your vegetarian meal... shall I go on...J

Also booked for Pamporovo in March from Glasgow, ours has been changed as well. As we are in Aberdeen we now have to get a flight to Gatwick as it's easier than going to Newcastle or Manchester, cost us an extra £84!! Still, I'm sure it will be worth it - Roll on March!!!re: BALKAN RIP OFF
similar thing as well three years in a row the same letter as you the flight was to sofia then changed to plovdiv but still good value will be back next year to borovets/sofia/plovdiv good luck regards B.W.

This is not unusual for BalkenI have warned people in the past that they do not give a S!!t about anyone once they have your money.
I do not want to sound doom and gloom but keep a record of anything you feel is not right when you get to Bulgaria.
I had a right tussle with them when i got back and eventually the travel agent made amends with us as even they could not get any satisfaction from Balken.

What should I look out for with Balken, i have booked with them for next January to Borovets, me and 2 small kids staying at hotel somerkov. First time to Bulgaria.cheers

Went to Pamporovo with Balkan in March and I have to say they were OK. The flight out there seemed a bit dodgy initially with the old aircraft they use but it got us there and back safe and sound. Must have been OK as we have booked to go back next year. Maybe we were lucky but they seemed OK to me. Hotel Pamporovo is billed as 5 star, it isn't 5 star by western standards but it was clean, the shower worked well, the maids came in every day and the buffet was good both with the choice, ...

For what we paid compared to what you would pay at most other european resorts I felt it was excellent value for money. Can't comment on Borovets as I haven't been there but would recommend Pamporovo for all but really advanced skiers.
