We were in Boro 6 times and always enjoyed ourselves and found this site the best and most informative.
Just another thing does anyone know what the transfer time is from Sofia to Bansko.
Also if anyone can think of anything else we might need to know that would be great.
We have booked a full package and have our own skis and boots and are reasonable skiers and get to Bansko on 28/1/2012.
kind regards to all
Hi, can't help you regarding eateries or bank sorry, but re. the transfer, my tour operator has it down as 3hrs. I get the on the 28th too, staying in Hotel Mura B&B, flying out from Bristol. I have been to Bansko before back in 2006 and we had a few surprisingly good meals out, surprising because the food in the Hotels is always so rank, how do they manage it There was a particularly good one in the Old town I'm going to try and find again if they have built apartments on top of it
Others may throw hate mail in my direction but one of the perks of the Kempinski/Grand Arena is the purchase of the VIP lift pass, it gets you past the Gondola queue should there be one, it used to be a free upgrade for all guests of the hotel but this year there is a charge of 395 Lev, so if you haven't already bought a lift pass it might be worth considering buying it on check in. Sorry not sure of banks, there is one in the old town that I noticed but an ATM outside hotel has always been ...

If you wish to lounge in a 5 star, with spa, pool, restaurant... right opposite the gondola with the option of VIP pass (it is owned by Ulen) then you will have to rough it a bit... the bank is next door (my god !!!!! the guest has to walk), the Victoria is across the road (good restaurant, though i think its a bit pricey..) It is not recommended to stroll around in your Kempinski robes and slippers, as you will likely get mugged, people assuming you have loads of money....

You might just notice a little difference from Boro.. one word of warning, the bar in the hotel is bloody expensive (rakia - 10lv)
Transfer is around 3 hours, loads of bars/restaurants in vicinity for all tastes, check other threads... I really do not think you will be disappointed
Steve,
Thanks for the tips,I will organise a local to carry me to the bank so as not ruin the slippers or to tire me out..
I know that the drinks will be expensive thats why we plan to go out every night, also the atmosphere is normally better in the local places. We just need the sauna and massages to allow us to be fit for the next days skiing (OLD AGE ITS HEADING YOUR WAY).
Many thanks to Pete for this great site and to all who keep it going...
