BANSKO Update

Hello, I am nearing the end of my holiday in bansko, and things are ok at the moment.

There are a handfull of runs open but the middle slopes are turning rocky, and worsening by the day.

The snow road to the resort is open, however it is extremely icy at the top and not an enjoyable ski.

My girlfriend and I have been going up as early as possible, getting on the slopes for 8:30am and you can get some nice clear runs at the very top, but by 11:30 conditions start to degrade.

Hope all the info is good, and hope all that come out next week get a much needed dump (of snow!)

re: BANSKO Update

Balkan, but it's coz they've changed our accommodation. So don't know whether to risk it and go and get the full refund, after all it's the skiing we want. Did really want to go to Bansko, but if there's not a lot else to do except drink if we can't ski, not sure...... Confused

re: BANSKO Update

Kezza, it's a difficult decision and I sympathise with your predicament. I am flying out on the 27th January and am also really praying that the long anticipated snowfall (loads!) arrives between now and then. There is a possibility from about the 20th onwards but even those weather models have changed since this morning Sad.

I will definitely go regardless and I know that there will be a number of runs open but just not as many as what we would like or are use to - unless the snow ...

You are in a VERY fortunate position in that Balkan have agreed to give you a full refund. That is almost unheard of from any travel agent so at least you have some options.

re: BANSKO Update

I know, but I really want to go and if we don't go now not sure we'll get chance to go this season.

My bf is a beginner but I'm more advanced, even if there's a few runs in good condition think that'll do. But according to the post above only a hanful are open and are worsening by the day. So will any be in a good enough condition by mon if theres no snow??

Kezza, this is a report from Igluski (quoted from the Ski Club):

Select Bulgaria and then Bansko for the report.
