Mobiltel debuts multimedia portal service for handsets

Mobiltel, Bulgaria's dominant wireless operator, Tuesday announced a new service that will be provided jointly with Vodafone under the two companies' partnership agreement signed earlier this year.
Starting October 16, Mobiltel subscribers will have access to Vodafone live!, Vodafone's suite of mobile entertainment services, which include downloadable games and ringtones, as well as news and information.
The service will not require the use of special Vodafone- or otherwise branded handsets although Mobiltel will start selling such models.
Active users will get a free search feature, 3 TV and 3 chat channels, news and weather, horoscope and sports information in a 3.90 lev package with taxes. Users will pay only for the downloaded content.
The latest Mobiltel offer comes roughly a month after rival wireless telecom Globul launched the i-mode cellular service for mobile phones.(Dnevnik)
