BORO UPDATE - 14TH fEB

Hi Everyone!

Just a quick update for you....yesterday it was very very windy so everything at the top was shut as they could only open the gondola to half way. However, the good news is that it snowed again in the afternoon - I was up in Boro and although it was quite light, there was about 5cm this morning...There was already excellent snow coverage, so basically it just added to the good snow!!

So, in short, all lifts open today (winds have died down), there is plenty of snow, everything has been pisted and ALL runs are in excellent condition.

It is very very busy though, due to it being half-term, but at least everyone has something to ski on!!

The local news also said that snow was forecast for tomorrow and Tuesday, so will keep you updated on this.

Kas

Hi ya,

If it stays like it is, you will be in for a great time - conditions are excellent and hopefully you'll get a chance to enjoy the skiing rather than drive for a change!!

Hi Kas got back from Boro last night Knackered... we had all intentions of a last drink with you but didn't make it soz, but hey we had a great time, miffed we missed the 40 strong pic at the Titanic Bar... We did so much skiing and Drinking that we were phyically done in !! and walking thru all that deep snow didn't help.. so to all you lucky people out there or going out enjoy... I'm not so sure that all the negative stuff about Borosport was right having just spent the week there we didn't come across any un-gromed runs however the early bird gets the best groomed piste and the poweder... The gondola line was only bad on two days but we did get there late, the end was outside the green king bar...! so meet your instructors early and get up there as early as poss. Me and Jane did get snow blades from Alex ski shop, they are great fun and so easy to ski on. My wife Tracey got some new ski's from the shop in the Samakov hotel.. well impressed... I know that the sun did have a melting effect on the runs and in the town but it only went a bit slushy on the bits in the sun however the road in the town was like a river.. All that new snow Friday night fixed it thou. There were some ( a bit rocky places on the slopes) doggy bits in the runs but not enough to spoil the runs. It did scratch the bottom of the ski's but the Albena Ski depot in the forest the side of eagle rocks serviced them and waxed them for 20 leva. they were like brand new again...no grooves or scratches.. perfect ready for the next skiing holiday. This service i would srongly recommend for price and value + it was overnight.. Our favourit place to eat was the Golden Horn the side of the rila beginners drag. The food was fab... its sign is in Bulgarian thou but its next to the Crown. We did venture down to Samakov town to the Castle Restaurant this was also excellent and for seven of us to eat like Kings including the drinks it cost us 80 leva. The pancakes on the corner opp. the rila are also good just like my mom does em....!!Nikki's Birthday went well her boyfriend Fizz got very drunk..! he is still trying to erase the video ( guess its going on youtube thou..) that local rakia drink is like rocket fuel eeeyak. i'm going to tell NASA about it incase they run out for the next launch... we went into the Titanic a couple of time and they did give us a Bulgariaski.com discount so thanks. Also thanks for the rocket fuel shots i'm off to the doctors monday to see if they did any long term damage Wink Keep up the good work with the update posts and providing a social meeting up point in Borovets it make people's holiday much more enjoyable.
