BORO UPDATE - 28.2.2010

Morning,

I was the driver to the forum meet last night and once again was great to meet everyone, especially the Fleeties (what a great group of people) Carl & Paul, Paul borovets (although he was a complete lightweight in comparison to his last 2 visits this season!!). Bobby was taken out on the slopes yesterday by an english teenager totally out of control - not only did the teenager wipe out a young boy that Bobby was towing, he also hit Bobby who did a back-flip (not on purpose!) and ...
Morning,

I was the driver to the forum meet last night and once again was great to meet everyone, especially the Fleeties (what a great group of people) Carl & Paul, Paul borovets (although he was a complete lightweight in comparison to his last 2 visits this season!!). Bobby was taken out on the slopes yesterday by an english teenager totally out of control - not only did the teenager wipe out a young boy that Bobby was towing, he also hit Bobby who did a back-flip (not on purpose!) and now has a cracked rib...hence the reason that he always wears a helmet even though most instructors don't....

Anyway, moving onto the conditions....it is sunny at the top, but misty at the bottom. Leaving home at 8am this morning, it was minus10, so both the Rila cannons and Yastrebets are on. It is still totally possible to ski, but the conditions are deteriorating and anyone coming next week needs to pray for snow...and unfortunately due to the injury, Bobby won't be doing any naked snow dances on the balcony....!

Markudjik 1 is open and in good condition, but getting rugged, Suhar is also in good condition although both runs are expected to get worse by the afternoon due to the sun - they are also pretty icy now. Markudjik 2 which has been open for the last couple of days, has also closed again today. The 4 man chair on Marky 2 is open though so that beginners can get the 4 man chair up to do the loop rather than the double drag on Marky 1 - the run down though from Marky 1 to 2 is icy to say the least!

The Mussala path is still open, but it is pretty lethal and we're surprised it is still open! There is a mixture of ice, rocks and bare patches, so you have been warned!!

On the Yastrebets side, the Hariama (run down from gondola to 4 man chair) is pretty bare, but skiable. Yastrebets runs are in very good condition and the cannons are still on. It is still perfectly skiable all the way to the bottom, but with your own ski's you should take care!

On the Rila side, they have opened one of the blacks today (been closed nearly all season) and the rest of the rila runs are a bit icy at the moment, but very good in general although this is mainly due to the snow cannons.

Hope that helps

Kas

p.s. I would ignore all the predcitions / forecasts that seem to be on every site going.... The local reports are changing every day and no-one know's what is going on.... Today you may see reports that it is snowing, but it is more like 'glitter in the air' and nothing substantial...sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but we're just giving you the 'real' conditions.

Kas

Send best wishes to Bobby - not great when that sort of thing impacts on your job!

As a complete aside, Wolves won 4-0 at the weekend and climbed out of the relegation slots. You then putthe curse on us at the forum meet and we were bottom for the next two onths - please do not curse us again!

Hope the White House is going well - still trying to see if we can get in a long weekend towards end of March so can sample the delights. Two years ago I was skiing up top in April - need ...

re: BORO UPDATE - 28.2.2010

Ouch!! Sorry to hear that Bobby, hope you are ok. Easily the best instructor out there - we had a blast our first three years boarding with you (07,08, & 09). After the last 2 years trips to France and Austria I reckon it must be time for a Boro return next year. Be good to see you and Kaz again. If you are ever in the UK again you are always welcome to visit us in Essex again like you did for my wife Lels birthday. Be great to hear from you again.

Hi Kas and Bobby,

I wish you all the best.
@ Bobby, to avoid pain stop breathing Wink
Fingers crossed that they have a good insurance. Though your season might be finished, this could help a little.
