My wife and I have just returned from a week in Boro - Samvoko Hotel - our first ever experience of a skiing holiday, and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and the resort.
Although not skiers we went out with 20 mates who do. We stayed in the Samokov Hotel and had a fantastic time. It proves one doesn't have to Ski to enjoy.
The hotel - accommodation, food, staff, facilities, was fantastic and will complete the questionnaire on this board later. No complaints at all about the whole ...

Our skiing friends - a combination of beginners and excellent skied on all the open slops but preferred the tops where there is a lot of snow. Weather getting warmer and snow turning to slush / ice on the ski school slopes towards end of week.
Night life in and around Boro was fantastic - only grp the pubs / bars don't carry enough small change and always seem to 'round down' Hard sell from locals outside bars is a pain and they never give up. Prices varied from 3 leva to 7 leva for a beer. Chillies, White Magic, Mexican Pub (live music great), Buzz Bar, in fact al the bars up the 'main street' excellent and with great atmosphere.
Skidooing is a must in the forest, as is a ride up to the top of the Rila mountains just for lunch and the views. Half day pass is 28 leva, full day 55 leva, bit of a rip off just for a one off - non skier!!!!
Ended week with a trip into Sofia - yesterday (Sat 7th) before catching plane back to Manchester - again a must to experience culture and see how the other half live.
So there you go from a skiing resort convert.
Can highly recommend Borovets for a skiing holiday - reasonabley cheap and very ceerful!!!!!!!!
Next year will try somewhere else for comparisons purposes - and hopefully another great holiday - Any suggestions out there?
Just as a matter of interest, how much did you pay for the ski-doo trip? I have guests in at the moment who did the ski-doo one evening and i personally think they paid too much (but there was a bulgarian middle man involved). Also, does anyone know how much the horse riding is for an hour?
Saw prices quoted as 60 leva - two up - for Skidoo for an hour - this is direct from operator. However we paid 54 leva via our rep, again two up otherwise 45 single. Frustrating thing is there is only one Skidoo operator who has the monopoly!!! - but still worth every penny!!!
Thanks for that Deg and Borogirl. The horse riding i think was about right. As far as i am aware they paid 40 leva for the hour, but the ski-doo they all paid 90 leva for an hour. That seemed really steep to me. Thanks very much anyway, at least now i know "true" prices and will tell my future guests to steer clear of the "helpful" ski instructors !
