Hi everybody
As I promised, here is my report from Borovets. I went there yesterday (sunday 14th) so as to see by myself the conditions there.
And it's under a very sunny weather that I discovered the first real snow of the year. Of course we need more snow so as to practice, you will see on the photos that the runs are half white, but the small piste in front of Rila Hotel was practicable with the small drag lift, probably owing to a pleasant artificial snow. So if you are a beginner, you can book this week in Borovets. Otherwise you have to wait like me for the next important snowfall...
The cabins were working, but all the top lifts are closed, so it was reserved for hikers.
I noticed that some prices are higher, but I dont know if it is general. For example the lift pass costs 2 leva more for Bulgarians, and I saw a snowboard pants that I wanted to buy. In the same shop, its price last year was 85 leva, and now it s 115 leva !!
Anyway the prices are still much lower than in UK or France, so let's enjoy !!!!
You can watch the photos here : http://kriscam.free.fr/bulgaria/snowreport/20031214borovets/
I hope it will give you a good idea about the conditions. If you have any question, please ask me.
You' re welcome Dutchman
If people appreciate these photo reports, I can propose you to publish them more often on this webpage. I will spend all my winter between Vitosha, Borovets and Bansko (and maybe Pamporovo).
Just let me know if you find an interest...
The slopes are looking pretty good, especially as I am not coming to borovets until 17th January! Lets hope the forecast is correct for the guys going out soon!
