BOROVETS UPDATE - 10TH FEB

Morning!

Firstly, sorry for the delay...friends arrived last night and whilst we weren't too late, it was my first drink since the '28th crew' left last weekend and today I'm suffering...!!

Anyway, moving on....guess what.....it's snowing again and at this rate, we'll still be skiing in June....!!

Everything is open except Marky 3 and whilst it's still cold, it's nowhere near as cold as yesterday which is prob also due to there being no wind.

Bobby is on Marky 1, 2 today and says there is no ice at all, conditions are perfect! The reports from the Rila / yastrebets side are that all these slopes are in perfect condition as well, although we were told this at 9am and I've only just recovered enough to type it up!

The resort is already getting busier with people arriving early for half-term but at least there are excellent conditions for everyone!

Cheers

Does anyone actually remember Marky 3 being open? I've boarded it a few times, but always had to hike up!

I'm sure Marky 3 was open on our first trip in 2008 but haven't seen the far lift working since (2009-2012) Sad

We used Marky 3 when we came to Boro in the 90s. That was a great holiday. I was still learning and desperate to be with my wife who as more advanced. I jumped from the boring beginners group to her group on the basis I just had to keep up and progressed my skiing by a mile.

The instructor was this amazing guy who ate fruit and nuts, shunned meat and did the best warm up and training exercises.

We would ski out to go up Marky 3 then off piste through a bowl and then to a off piste hut for a mid morning cuppa.

I've always wanted to go back to that hut and ski that area again but that side of the hill was not open last year - perhaps this year?

I also almost had my credentials bitten off when I went to say hello to a large mountain dog resident at one of the restaurants somewhere on the hill!

Great holiday!

re: BOROVETS UPDATE - 10TH FEB

Think the last time we skied the Marky 3 was about 3 years ago. We came over beginning of April. The snow and weather was amazing.......best 3 days skiing ever had!!

Skied all morning then skiied over to the Mussala Hut for hot soup and a spot of sunbathing, seriously, people were walking up to the Mussala Peak in shorts and t-shirts!

Spent the rest of the afternoon drinking in the sunshine, then made our way down, in rather heavy snow, it had to be said! But could still ski all the ...

I think they close the Marky 3 because of the risk of avalanche if you go off piste, around the avalanche bowl (perhaps the name might give it away!). Wasn't there a local guy killed over there a few years ago?

Anyway hoping with all my heart we can get over there again 2nd week of March!

Dont think there will be a problem with not enough snow this year, probably too much!!
