BOROVETS UPDATE - JANUARY 21ST

Hi All,

Sorry for the late post...got back to BG last night and went straight to Titanic to meet people from here. Was a great night although we left quite early as I've had a manic few days. Have to say though, starting to wonder if the Bulgaria Ski meets are a good idea...meet some great people but always feel so rough afterwards...!!

Anyway, on to the most important thing...the conditions....!!

A couple of changes on the runs, but not much...
Rila nursery is closed - this is due to the lift breaking down (something 'burnt' out!) and will take anywhere up to 10 days to be fixed but the lift next to Yanakiev is now fixed and the nursery at the top of the gondola is now working as well. It is still snowing lightly in Borovets both at a resort level and up top, but again the snow is really light - today's description was a couple of flakes per square metre....!! Also, George's run is open for skiiers again, rather than just walkers. So...to summarise:

Snowing lightly from resort level to gondola level
Temps are also still low so both sets of cannons are still working.
Yastrebets 2 and 3 open and excellent conditions
Gondola open and run down to Yastrbets is much better - first 50metres has a few rocks / stones but the rest of it is really good now which is the best it has been all season.
Free shuttle buses still running to the 4 man chair.
Iglika and yanakiev (Rotata) drags open but the rila is now shut - see above.
Rila 4 man chair open - Martinovi 2 (red) skiiable, 'pretty good' conditions due to the snow cannons working on here - a bit rocky but better than it has been.
Sitnyakovo Express open for skiiers as well as walkers now, but conditions are pretty poor.
All Markudjik slopes are still closed...

Which is Georges run is it the one at the top of the 4 man Sitnyakovo express labelled Royal residence ski way. I assume georges is the bar halfway down and is he still open?

re: BOROVETS UPDATE - JANUARY 21ST

Thanks Kas again

Do you have a Bulgaria Ski meeting!? planned for next week? I'm sure there are many that would like to say thanks.

Also, is it possible to get a bus from Borovets to Sofia for a day out?
