Ian, Is it because the snow coverage is not at its best?
I chose Borovets for my wife and daughter as it is their first ski holiday, research suggested that it is a great resort to learn on, I am good intermediate and can cope with any black all be it slowly. will i be disapointed even if the coverage is good? we are not going until 28th Feb hopefully it will have changed by then.

We've been 3 times, Jan and Feb last year (Jan first time skiing, loved it so much we booked to go back the day after we arrived home) and also Jan this year - I feel sorry for the people visiting Borovets for the first time this season (so far) as it is nowhere near its best, but saying that we had a good holiday and are due back out on the 6th Feb with fingers crossed for a large dump of snow beforehand.

We met some first timers in Jan this year and they were somewhat dissapointed but after seeing pictures we had taken of the resort in Feb 09 are going to give Borovets another go.

For us, as long as our friends are there and it dosen't change from the quaint, sometimes quirky place that it is we will go back and our skiing is improving slowly, infact the lack of snow pushed my husband to ski Yasterbets, something he would't of done if the Royal residence and Musala Patway had been open.

For all first timers, go with an open mind - You don't need much more than the nursery slopes (top and bottom) and the blue runs - Have fun and I hope Borovets grabs you as much as it has us we are already planning 2011

Snow dancing as I write

Hi Guys

Quick update... It is snowing lightly in the resort now. Also Martinovi (Rila 4 man) was stopped for about an hour earlier - they had to check it as they thought there was a fault, but it is working again now.. The 'light' snow is supposed to be getting heavier tonight, but you know how I don't like doing the 'predicting' bit...so here's hoping and crossing everything for you all! Smile

Hi Kas.
Came off the Rilla slopes around 1300hrs today as the Rilla 4 person chair was getting very busy. I an intermediate/survivor skier so had a 2 hour lesson with Laura Angelov (Crazy Christos daughter) am totally wiped out my skiing was getting lazy Crying have found muscles I forgot I had. Don't know what Ian was rattling on about (mentioned above) skiing has been very good on the Rilla Slopes all week. Yes it gets a bit icey in afternoon but then we head out to Ystrebets. Enjoy your steak and hopefully see you tomorrow... Smile
Also, i agree with you about the conditions, Bobbi said they are really good and get a bit icy in the afternoon, but in general Rila / yastrebets are both great. Smile
