I thought I would give this it's own thread, instead of hijacking Pete's one regarding SKY.
I received the email below from BSAPP (Bulgarian Society for Animal Protection and Preservation) regarding Bella. Hi Guys,
I thought I would give this it's own thread, instead of hijacking Pete's one regarding SKY.
I received the email below from BSAPP (Bulgarian Society for Animal Protection and Preservation) regarding Bella. The website address is www.bsapp.org (I don't know how to add a link), so please check it out and see if you can help. I have been supporting a dog on there called Sakra (will bring a tear to your eyes), but would help them all if I could afford it.
Beautiful Bella is desperate for a home to call her own and after all she has been through she really deserves it. We really need a happy end for Bella, as her life up to now has been one of abject misery and abandonment, starvation and fear.
Bella’s original owner decided he didn’t want her anymore and so chained her up to the fence of a local house and left her, with no food and no water. With no way to get off her chain and therefore no way to find food on her own, Bella slowly starved and was very close to death when she was found.
Probably intentionally she had been chained to the gate of a holiday home belonging to a British ex-pat couple Stella and Russell but they weren’t there at the time. Luckily they decided to come on holiday and found Bella practically dead outside their gate. They also noticed that half her ear and her tail was missing as you can see from the photo – it is very likely she was attacked by other animals in the village and with no way to defend herself or to run away because of her chain she was badly injured, I can’t begin to imagine what terror she must have felt whilst being attacked, nor the pain she must have gone through lying there, it is a miracle she survived at all especially in her weakened state because of the lack of food and water.
Stella and Russell did the only thing they could and took her in temporarily during their holiday and have managed to save her, she now no longer resembles the bag of bones they found but has been transformed into a beautiful dog. She has put on weight, regained her energy, her black coat is shiny and her eyes have got their sparkle back, she has also been spayed.
Considering all she has been through she is an amazing dog, with a very happy temperament and is playful and loving. She is leash trained and enjoys long walks. Bella is an intelligent dog and has also picked up the command for "fetch"! She comes with a kennel, lead etc. She gets on beautifully with the neighbour's 3 cats that always seem to visit Bella and chases them playfully and sniffs and licks them when they are sleeping. She is also wonderful with children and helps baby-sit a one and half year old baby. Bella likes to be outdoors and would make a great companion for her future owner, as she is very loyal. Whoever is lucky enough to give Beautiful Bella a home will have their love returned 10-fold.
Bella is urgently in need of a foster or permanent home. Stella and Russell are returning to the UK in a couple of weeks and they cannot take her with them and it is paramount that Bella not be abandoned and left on the street again as she will not survive.
If you are looking for a beautiful, loving, playful and loyal dog like Bella, this is your chance! Please get in contact ASAP if you can help her and please pass this e-mail on to all your friends. Let’s make Bella’s tale a “Happy Tail”.
