Food was not as nice as last year! i had food poisioning and was ill for 2 days!!!! The visibility was crap some days and it was very cold up the mountain!
Although i would recomend the restuarant opposite the Straghnite hotel! with the little chef statue standing outside! the food was amazing :-) we ending up eating there every night.

Hotel Purun was very nice we had a drink before leaving on Saturday. But where it is situtated from the old town and where all the bars are is one hell of a treck! Not to far from the Gondola though about 5-10 mins.

Any questions just ask

re: Back From Bansko :(

I just got back too and had an ace time. I stayed with a friend though so didn't have accommodation problems. I did talk to a family on the slopes though who also stayed in the monastery apartments and had a lot of problems there.

I went to the mehana you mention as well and I agree the food is excellent there.

Amigos bar is new this season and very buzzy also the much loved Lion Bar. Another new bar is the St Gallahad which will be very good I think when it gets better known as it is ...

Any questions ask me too.

Got back from Bansko on Sunday and agree I will not be rushing back. Had my own skis stolen from outside the self service restaurant at the top of the Gondola. Ski resort too small skied it out in a day and half, snow conditions very good but cold. Stayed in Hotel Strazhite which was very nice.

re: Back From Bansko :(

There were reports of skis being stolen the week before last and some dick said this sort of thing is the fault of the British for leaving them unattended when going into the restaurants!

re: Back From Bansko :(

Back from Bansko a couple of weeks ago and had a great time.

We stayed at the Hotel Perun and it was just a 10 minute walk to the Gondola/main street.

Also agree about the Mehana with the chef outside! Really good food. The Sir Galahad bar is EXCELLENT! Brilliant pizzas and friendly staff.

Good skiing and amazing weather aswell.

Seems a shame that you had a bad experience as everyone that we met there was loving it. We're booking up for next year ASAP Very Happy

re: Back From Bansko :(

agree the mehana opposite the Perun was excellant v cheap too and hot!! Skiing was v.good but if you want blast down everyday you will exhaust the runs but looking at the piste map prior would give you a clue!! Info from our instructor that next year 10,000 bed in resort, Bansko will be overcrowded so 2hr bubble car wait will be common place. Alot more facilities for the slopes will have to be added to take the strain. Love to ski Bansko next year but won't due to the massive increase in ...
