Back from Boro (essay)

Well finally made it back this morning Sad

Flights:-

Ok, flights out from Doncaster 1/2 hour delay then got 45 minutes into journey and had to turn round and come back, problem with a dial or something, sat on runway for an hour. Got into hotel in Borovets at 4.30 am zzzzzz (up at 8 for welcome meeting!)

On the way back we finally came into Plovdiv after 2 1/2 hour coach transfer to be greeted by lovely thick fog - Gatwick & East Mids before us had both been diverted to Sofia so ...

On the way back we finally came into Plovdiv after 2 1/2 hour coach transfer to be greeted by lovely thick fog - Gatwick & East Mids before us had both been diverted to Sofia so we knew what was coming - but not before the lovely airport staff checked us all in and then 10 minutes later asked us to collect our bags from the conveyor belt as our plane had been diverted to Sofia Surprised back on coach for another 2 1/2 hours to Sofia. Got back into Doncaster at 4am this morning

Hotel:-

We stayed at the Breza which is in a perfect position 2 mins away from Gondola. The hotel was basic but very clean and the food was pretty decent (not great, but ok). Internet room & Sauna in it and a relaxing bar.

Bars:-

Hotel directly opposite Alpina, where we quite obviously became regulars there every night (actually Amie, if you read this I need your facebook name, for the v embarrasing party night photos of me...(Stacey!)) Great bar, great atmosphere and cheap of course! We found prices in the resort not that bad to be honest, it really depended on where you went - for eg the pub right at the bottom of the Rila slope(attached to the depot) was 6 lev for a large beer but that's because it's a haven for ski school meals. I'd say average beer was 3 lev. Chilli Peppers 2 Vodkas & Cokes in Happy Hour 6 lev Booze Booze I didn't even think the prices on the slopes were terrible about 5 lev for hot wine.

Food:-

Forgot to eat first night Wink or and last night
We went to the Old House in Samokov town one night with my instuctor and the food was amazing there, definitely worth a visit. For lunch each day we were paying approx 25 lev for the two of us with drinks. Can't comment on evening meals as only ate out the once at Samokov town. We did the quiz night at Francos with free pizza though for £11 which was good value I thought.

Anything else to comment on.............mmmm......oh yes ski-ing!! It snowed constantly on Tuesday and on Weds the Gondola finally opened and my other half was out all day on every slope, off piste everything and he came back and said that it was one of the best days he has ever had ski-ing (he's been loads of times diff places). Me? Well I was pretty idle this week (sambuca and tequilla problems!) but managed a few hours each day. The lower slopes were a little icy though and that knocked my confidence. Still good cover up the top when we left yesterday though.

All in all we had a fantastic time and met some brilliant people (some odd ones too, but I won't go into that!!!)

Ask any questions.........

S Very Happy

re: Back from Boro (essay)

Glad you had a good time but the fog is a bummer!

We also love the Old House - it's definitely worth the 15lev taxi fare. We also tried the Kokoshkova Kushta, 84 Tzar Boris 111 Street - brilliant food, very modern interior in an old building but book. Good for accomodating large groups but can still wear jeans. Razz
