Back from Boro last night

Got back from last night. Six of us, me, the Mrs, three (adult) childrens and one son in law. Mixed standard skiers.

Flew from Newcastle to Sofia (via Edinburgh outbound) stayed at the Samokov, where we had stayed last year, same week .

Hotel perfectly adequate, decent food at breakfast and dinner.
Two of the party had taken their own ski gear but had also booked the learn to board package.

As intermediates, we were allocated to Mia from the Samokov ski school. She's a lovely girl, great skier, and a lousy teacher. She's interested onoly in enjoying herself, and does very little actual teaching. She disappeared to University in Sofia on the Wednesday, and promised to make up the time, but never did.

Snow was poor; waaaay too warm during the day, up to 19 C one afternoon. The piste bashers were doing a magnificent job in keeping some pistes skiable for the week.

The path down from the Gondola to all the bars/restaurants starting at the White House was bare rocks and gravel with ice in the cracks, and walking down in ski boots carrying skis scared the pants off me.

Enjoyed some great food and drink at Mamma Mia's, so a big thanks to Vlad the Lad and Geri there.

Despite the poor conditions, had a great week; we'll be back next year - maybe a few weeks later in the year and possibly up to manybe as many as 10 of us!
