Back from Boro

Well we landed back into Manchester late last night from a week away in Borovets! Just thought I'd write up about how great a time we all had!!

We had a group of 7 (4 skiiers, 3 boarders - my self included in the boarders), of varying levels! 1st days skiing on sunday was a bit patchy/icy but the snowfall throughout Sunday night and Monday day left us with a HUGE dump of snow which combined with low evening temps made for fantastic conditions thoughout the week!

Was fantastic for the beginners in the group, as by the end of the week we were all doing the red runs, i even got my links going great down them! Very Happy

Met Kas in the White house on Monday and was welcomed with a glass of Rakia and a lesson in a bit of local lingo! Nastrave! Very Happy Returned up at least twice more later in the week after such a warm welcome we thought it the best place to grab lunch/breakfast and some early drinks! Then met bobby too! Fantastic guy as well! A laugh a min with both him and Kas! Really want to thank them both for their hospitality! Also if we could get the recipie for the Rakia mix as I found some in duty free on the way home and couldn't help my self! Booze
Also I hope bobby remembers what he promised after a grilling from my Physio friends telling him to at least get his cheast x-rayed! If not just keep prodding him Kas! Wink

Borovets as a town is fantastic, lots of places to try, and small enough so once you get to know someone you will repeatadly see them all week! Makes it really sociable! Thanks BJs was a faviourite with our group, as was Buzz Bar and Black Tiger! Atmosphere in all these was amazing!

The skiing runs were all great, with varying levels of difficulty! I didn't quite manage a black run, but the reds were all great! My only issue as a boarder was the greens were too flat and the end of the Yasrebetz runs were ski paths, not really designed for boarders! But they're long enough reds to forget this flat bit at the bottom! Smile The cannons deffinetly made a difference to some runs as well!

Tried the skidoo's on Wed night, which were fun! Surprisingly cheap too! All the group enjoyed the hour on those!

Thursday night, some of us tried the night skiing, which was ok, but a lack of condifence after a hard fall that day, and the speed of the skiiers was a bit distracting for me! I can see why they're on there though, it was really quiet! Just felt I got in the way as a slow boarder though! If you're after a quiet, fast run though, thats your time to do it!

I think the only down side to the week was my fall on Thursday and one of our team tearing a ligament in his knee on Thursday afternoon as well which put him out of action for the remainder of the holiday! We all still enjoyed a fantastic holiday though, with loads of Booze, loads of Snow and loads of Skiing! Really has been a fantastic holiday! Just gutted to be home now!

Thanks to all involved! Sorry I didn't make the forum meet during the week to meet more people! And once again, a huge thanks to Kas and Bobby! See you next year! (I'll keep checking on here for updates on Bobby too! Wishing him well with his recovery!)
