Just returned from Pamps yesterday. Went with Balkan from Mancs to Plovdiv, staying at the Pamporovo Hotel. Flights OK, only complaint was the early flight times, about 2 hours earlier than last year. It meant leaving Pamps at 4:00am. Stayed at the Pamporovo before and all was as expected. Hotel very nice, but food does leave something to be desired and as usual, never very hot. Reading earlier posts, the Pamporovo, being the last pickup point for the bus to the ski depot, had a problem with ...
Just returned from Pamps yesterday. Went with Balkan from Mancs to Plovdiv, staying at the Pamporovo Hotel. Flights OK, only complaint was the early flight times, about 2 hours earlier than last year. It meant leaving Pamps at 4:00am. Stayed at the Pamporovo before and all was as expected. Hotel very nice, but food does leave something to be desired and as usual, never very hot. Reading earlier posts, the Pamporovo, being the last pickup point for the bus to the ski depot, had a problem with buses passing by full up. They have eased this slightly by providing a bus that leaves from the Pamporovo at 9:00am
The resort was PACKED this year, we hit the busiest week apparently. Queues at the lifts were longer than normal, but not toooo bad. Conditions were perfect the 1st 4 days, but then things warmed up and conditions got a little slushy.
We found an excellent restaurant to eat in, The Chanove Restaurant on the way out of the resort to the ski depot (opposite the White House Restaurant). It’s only been open a couple of months and it is very popular, so booking is essential. It’s in walking distance from most hotels, so one of you can get dropped off there on the way back from skiing to book a table. The menu is pages and pages and pages long, but they do give you time to read through. As well as Bulgarian dishes, they also have a page of pizzas etc, so it’s OK for the young ones as well. Eight of us ate for less than £70, including a couple of bottles of wine, shorts, beers and cocktails – and a tip. Everything we ate was excellent, but the favourite dish was a starter called “Mountain Dish” – but be warned, it’s enough for two.
Although prices for food on the slopes is still reasonable, they have gone up dramatically this year. I think the biggest increase is for Chocolate Brandy! Also, prices vary a lot, eg Chocolate Brandy from 4 to 10 Levs. Also, beware, they like their coffee STRONG and luke warm, but they are usually accommodating and will make it how you like it, but EMPHASISE HOT.

Hi Liam,I hope you had a good flight, but you never left as early as Jim & I, 2.30am, our departure was 7.45 am from Sofia. OUCH.
It was good to meet you guys out there.

Hi Ally,How did Jim manage to make it back for 2:30 when he left us just before to he was doing your trick walking in front of the Murgevets. Sorry trying to!!!
Sounds like you had a good trip back our was rather bumpy though and Vikki had to sit on her own I was the lucky one. I will have to send you the photos when I get un packed.

Hi Trigger, He was actually back in the room for a kip at 1am before I woke him at 2 to get ready to leave, we managed to doze on and off on the trip to sofia, also on the plane! But Boy was I knackered. I had about 6 hours saturday night, and then another 10 hours last night, (Was in bed at 8.30pm)I have sent Vikki the link for my pics, if I remember I'll send you it later too,
