Back home from Bansko

WOW! Had an absolutely fantastic time in Bansko, got back this morning. Conditions were brilliant up top, little slushy in places lower down but all in all - what a fantastic holiday! I was beginning to worry a bit about all the negative comments on here but I can honestly say I thought the holiday was 10 times better than I expected! Was great value for money, the locals were very friendly (apart from a couple who were a bit grumpy - but you get that everywhere), weather was OK - it ...

Was great value for money, the locals were very friendly (apart from a couple who were a bit grumpy - but you get that everywhere), weather was OK - it could have been a bit drier (rained the first 2 mornings and then we got stuck on the gondola in the middle of a thunderstorm on day 5 which wasn't very nice and a little bit scary) but we did also get some glorious sunshine which was fabulous! I couldn't fault Balkan holidays one bit - VERY well organised, great communication and assistance when needed. Queues for the Gondola were none existant so was a breeze to get up to the mountain. Boarding lessons were brilliant and our instructor was really helpful and a good laugh (Eve)! Eating out was a bit hit and miss, we found a few lovely little mehanas with gorgeous food, but others i wouldn't have fed the food to my cat. Most places had a sale on as its nearing end of season so things were even cheaper (30+% off). We stayed at the Lucky Bansko which was an excellent choice and I would highly recommend it to anyone. They said that they are going to close the gondola on 12th April. In process of editing a video so shall post a link to it when its done. Have a fab time anyone out there at the moment - I will DEFINATELY be going back to Bansko next year!!! Very Happy

One thing I would say though was that the Piste markers were really confusing! Did anyone else find this?

Nice one Louise, this has been the general feeling with all the parties i have taken back to the airport this season.
Improvements still need to be made, things will be discussed in the summer months im sure, discounting will become hopefully a thing of the past with a switch to lower prices overall, less tourists will mean more competition for all which has to be a good thing for the holidaying public. Have had comments about the piste marking which will agree with your comments, especially from the top of Challin Valog, maybe one day it will be sorted. Im hoping for the continued investment on the mountain, new cannons to cover red 12, and praying the old chair at Akidemika is replaced, the avalanche protection installed, and that side re-opened... There was activity last summer on the mountain around the chair, hoping eh !!!

Anyway, glad you had a great time......
