Balkan just contactd us to say that they have cancelled our flight from belfast-plovdiv. Very disappointing as every year there seem to be fewer flights from Ireland to Bulgaria. Has anyone else been affected by this? We have managed to change and are flying from dublin on the 24th (this flight is now full).
Hi again Philip,
Balkan also Dublin - Plovdiv. In fairness they have treated us well and given us a reduction in price to cover fuel and car parking, so I can't complain about the company. Just very disappointed with the lack of interest in Bulgaria from the Irish.

We have an apartment in Stoikite and love the place summer or winter. When we first started going there about 10 years ago - it was full of Irish then Aerlingus pulled out and now Balkan have greatly reduced their flights. The resort was quiet last season and I know that flights have been cancelled from the mainland this year also.
On a positive note we love having the place to ourselves, but find it so bloomin difficult to get there and genuinely care about the lovely people we have met who are trying to make a living over there!
Then again 10 years ago people were attracted by the cheap and cheerful nature of a bulgarian holiday and today some places charge 'silly prices'!
Ah well, still can't wait and checking the snow report already (sad I know). Wil you make it this year Philip?
Julie
