We are flying out from Bristol to Sofia with Balkan Air and wondered if anyone knows if we need to pay extra baggage for ski boots (not skis). I know they can not go as hand luggage but I wont want them to.
What have other people done?
Any advise please.
i was behind someone in the aiport and they were told they couldn't take their boots as hand luggage but as they had paid for ski carriage they didn't have to pay anything to have it as baggage... this was on a balkan holidays air flight from bristol to sofia.
I put mine in suitcase and fill them with socks and whatever else fits. I then use my hand luggage allowance to the max for anything that doesn't fit in my case. Should be enough room. Unless your a woman of course.
Thank you all for your replys.
I will go with the putting ski boots in suitcase, they weight about 4kg. I shall have to keep an eye on the weight allowance but being a woman from Cornwall I am not big on girly stuff. not like the upcountry townies.....so I should be ok for weight. I do need my kettle though!!!
For short trips we only take hand luggage. Best thing you can buy is some of those clothes vacuum bags (got ours from the Saver Store). Doing this we normally get double amount of kit in and less likely to get damaged. Just to prove a point my wife purchased a double duck feather quilt, sheet quilt cover all came back in her hand luggage using one of these vacuum bags.
