Hiya we are headin to Borvets on 13th to stay in the Rila. Can anyone tell me what like Balkan travel are and what the flights, transfers etc are like. Im a scaredy cat!!! SHouldnt really ask these questions I suppose!! Cant wait to go skiiing its our first time so really excited xx

from sofia around 1.5 hours from plodiv around 2.5 hours. you will possibly end up with a flight change or have to stop somewhere to pick people up.re: Balkan and transfers
Hi DonnaIt was our first time last year in March we stayed in the Rila Studios be prepared for the food the breakfast is ok but the main meals are not so good, there are a lot of places to eat and very reasonable. You will have a great time at ski school be prepared to be tried at the end of the day and you will have to meet at the lift at 9AM!!!

Transfers from the airport are OK. You are all in one place and they can't lose you. Transfers from the hotel to the airport are a different story. We were due to be picked up from the Flora at 2.30am. We went to the reception where a guy loaded our suitcases onto the coach and proceeded to drive to the Samakov where he abandonded the coach. 60 minutes later the rep turned up demanding to know why we were on that coach with some fairy story about looking for us for the last hour. Turns out ...
Transfers from the airport are OK. You are all in one place and they can't lose you. Transfers from the hotel to the airport are a different story. Turns out she was 60 minutes late for everybody. Just made the flight home. Other friends who flew out later the same day were taken to the wrong terminal at Sofia.

Transfer to Borovets from Sofia is not as bad as it used to be. The new roads out of the airport get you out onto the "country pot holed roads" very quickly. Flights are interesting but again, much better than the old days of the Russian Tupolev aircraft!!
You will soon forget about all the travel niggles once you reach the top of the hill from Samokov Town and enter the resort. Magical and at the moment the snow is deep, the drinks are cold and the atmosphere is as always, brilliant. ...

Donna no need to worry Balkan are fine been with them last three years, the food on the plane leaves a little bit to be desired but apart as borogirl has said welcome to heaven when you get to the resort. By the way going with thompsons this year only because we couldnt get the flights to suit
