Unless they are different from Thomas Cook, bmibaby and Thomson - flown with all of these - they won't let you carry them as hand luggage, so their T&C's say. I've always checked them in, and they do form part of your weight allowance, although if you take skis as well, I think some posters last year mentioned they put their boots in with their skis. Just have to pack very light to make sure the luggage wasn't overweight!! Alternative is to book extra baggage allowance to make sure you can take the weight, although when I enquired with Thomson the other year, it was a bit pricey.

re: Balken-Ski Boots and Hand Luggage

When I have booked with operators the boots come in with the ski weight so can go into the hold with your case at no extra cost.
Also i have taken my boots on before as my hand luggage and not been questioned. Hand luggage is usually around 10kg with most flights and some of the cases that people take on are twice as big as a boot bag.

I guess it depends at the end of the day what mood the check in desk is in when you get there. But I personally have never had a problem as hand luggage ...
