How do you stop the man from the house on the left getting splatted by the flashing red thing.

Can anyone help me?! I've been playing for ages & can't work it out!!
Both windows are open, the bridge has been dropped, the arrow turned round, man still in house.. i cannot work out what to 'drop' onto the mine.. all my missiles miss the bombd thingy and then my man gets blown up!!
It's REALLY bugging my now!!
