Hi all,I'm new here but have been reading through your posts while planning a trip to Bansko.
I was wondering if anyone knew when in jan is likely to be quietest? I gather lifts can get busy and would like to avoid the rush.
I've tried to work it out myself but I struggled to find all the relevant holiday dates.

The first week will be busy as its the orthodox Christmas, 2nd week will be better, and after.. Turkish holidays can clash but numbers will not usually effect.. Last January was busy for most of the month, but this was effected by Vitosha being closed and the Sofians coming up, should not happen if Vitosha opens this season, also just the popularity of Bansko is making quiet times difficult to predict... The only lift issue is the main gondola, but explore posts and explanations of how to ...

Brilliant, thanks.I've booked for 26 Jan and will keep my fingers crossed that Vitosha opens. Might bump into the Borovets crowd on my way out!

Kez, I often go to Bansko at the end of Jan, this is generally quieter than early Jan and of course is before the busy period of half term in feb. The tip with the gondola is to get there early each day, if it advertizes open 0830 get there at 8, we have been allowed up well before the opening time in the past, the snow is normally good at this time of the year as its that much colder and there has been sufficient time for a good base to build up, either from natural snow or the excellent ...

As Steve says once you are up the mountain the fast lifts generally cope well and with all the pistes and lifts open you can rack up some good runs in no time.

dbut - based on Kas' comment, I'm not sure it would be wise to tell you! But it's London - I think Gatwick.Don - glad to hear the snow is normally good then, and it sounds like I've timed it quite well. I've been a few years off skiing (money constraints) so desperate to get back on the slopes!
Really excited now. Shame I have to wait another 3 and a bit months.

You will be pleased to hear you have escaped as we fly from East Mids apart from the Welsh contingent who fly from Bristol. But as a lot of planes arrive in Sofia at the same time anything is still always possible.dbut
