Hi,
I'm going to Bansko at the weekend with a load of mates for the first time.
Does anyone know what the conditions are like for boarding at the minute?
Also, how much is a ski pass for a week going to set me back and what's the damage on a pint of the local beer!
Cheers in advance.
Iain.
just got back yesterday and conditions were good, best runs were from the two lifts from shiliankra (excuse the spelling). dont know about ski pass as i had a package deal.
beer prices varied from 1.5lv in town to 5lv in the happy end next to gondola.
all in all i had a cracking week (my 3rd visit)
Bansko is excellent at the minute. Got back last night.
Snow pretty good, and weather is great. Only problem was coming down Chalin Valog black which was pretty icy and not much fun (although I'm not the worlds best boarder and maybe someone better would be ok).
Not much fresh snow but still good - loads of easy off piste through trees in deep powder, even if it's not fresh. Ski pass is 50lv a day, with only very small discounts for booking longer periods. If, like me, you think there's a ...

If, like me, you think there's a chance that the super cheap drinks mean on occasion you might not make it up to the slopes before the 12:30 half-day pass time then you're better off paying daily.
Beer varies from 5lv (£2.50 ish) in the most touristy places to about 2 - 2.5 lv in traditional restaurants/bars.
Best we found was Irish Pub - 2.5lv a pint, but happy hour 5-7 so 1.25lv. Local Rakia in restaurants is great (but lethal) - about 2lv for 50ml!

i agree with matt. just got back yesterday. the happy end although 5 lev a pint, is good value at end of the day between 4 & 6 oclock the atmosphere in the place sets you up for a good night ahead. 2 or 3 in there then back to your hotel shower, s##t and shave then of down pirin st plenty of local mehanas to choose from ,ie typical bulgarian dish (kapama) lamb, chiken, pork dish very tasty, plus two large ones 12 lev £6. after that lions pub amigos, and friendly bar provide good atmosphere. enjoy.
Friendly Bar is great , fab atmosphere and really good live music, stick to the local bars for the cheap beer 1.50-2lv for 500ml. Im sooooooo jealous wish i was going back this weekend
Cheers for all the info guys - really looking forward to it - flying in from Dubai on Saturday morning - should make a nice change from this stinking heat!
