Bansko - Eating Out Advice

Hi,

This will be my fourth trip to Bulgria boarding but my first time to Bansko!

Having spent all previous experiences in Borovets. The only reason we were able to return to this really good resort (except the food) was because we discovered francos and katies .....

Can anyone tell us what the 'Francos and Katies' are of bansko?

Plenty of good Mehanas in Bansko, you need to go into the old town and explore a bit. You will be spoilt for choice.

you only returned to borovets because you discovered francos and katies?? am i reading that right?? so you must have tried every other eating establishment in the resort to make that judgement..did that include all the hotels as well.. wow, how did you find the time to get your boards out??
id be interested to hear your reviews of the other places you tried out.

I would strongly recommend you book on the first day, especially for the weekends as that's when us lot all come down. As noted above, go to the old town and you can find some very nice very simple places serving good traditional food tucked away. Take a torch.

Thanks very much for the advice - will definately book something in old town when we get out bearings ;-)

John - we have stayed at 2 X 4* and 1 X 3* and tried numerous other pubs/restaurants. However for anyone heading to borovets, who may be reading this, these are the only two places i would recommend - definately get something similar to home here.

We also liked Franko's and Katies but we were a little disappointed with some of the restuarants in Bansko. Often we would be waiting a long time for our food and then it wasn't that great. Maybe we chose the wrong places but who knows. We did like the Friendly bar close to the gondola as it had a nice and lively atmosphere and the food was pretty good. We're going again in February so we'll explore some more of the old town.
