Bansko - Plovdiv

Anyone travelling in the future to Bansko make sure your flight goes to Sofia, was a 4.5 hour journey of awfulness, especially as our flight didn't land till 12 their time, 1 hr bed then on the slopes for 8 makes u very tired towards the end of your hol!

And a new road between Sofia and Bansko is being constructed. Watch out for other roads around Samakov as they are prone to being closed without any warning. It can be a long drive around the mountain if you find your route closed. Some maps show a road/track through the mountain from Samokov to Bansko but although the road is there (it is really a potholed tarmac track along a stream) it is closed off about half way.

It's not fun having to turn around and start again.
