Bansko - Taxi Service

Hi,
Planning on coming back to Bansko for the 3rd time in March - will be staying in an appartment right on the outer edge of town (on the road as you come into Bansko).
Normally hire a car but this time considering using transfers as I'm not keen on the drive down from Sofia Confused... So need to know if anyone knows of cab firms in Bansko that are ok that we could use for getting us from the appartment to the gondola and back every day - then back out again in the evening...... So need to know if anyone knows of cab firms in Bansko that are ok that we could use for getting us from the appartment to the gondola and back every day - then back out again in the evening...... Had a few issues year before last with one of the cabbies out there who was always trying to charge us double that the others would for the same journey in the eves.. To be fair it was just him - the others would just agree up front or put it on the meter... Just looking to get a head-start this time Very Happy
Marcello.

re: Bansko - Taxi Service

There are issues this season with dropping at the gondola, Ulen are charging 500lv for a license to enable dropping not just at the gondola but anywhere on the mountain. This will include Challin Valog, Shilligarnika and the top station of the gondola....
We are not sure how this will be policed, nor if it applies to taxis (likely not)... It has been done on the premise that it contributes to the cleaning of the mountain road (public road.. we pay our taxes Mad) but as its Ulen they ...

In the meantime our plans (and bookings) for trips up the mountain at busy times have been effectively made uneconomic to us.. other options regarding dropping at the gondola could involve a bit more of a walk, BRT, Bansko Ski etc, but you can bet the spider (picks up illegally parked vehicles) will be very busy with anyone attempting to drop off...
Ulen flexing its financial muscle, and its aim to control all aspects of business in Bansko... Happy days eh ?? Confused

re: Bansko - Taxi Service

Thanks for the info Steve. Sorry to hear this is going to impact your business. It beggars belief really, given your service gives people another option to the sometimes really bad queues at the bottom of the gondola - which aren't helped by Ulen - but if the license is going to make it uneconomic to you, I'm sure it will be much the same to any others... . You would hope that the revenues from things like this would be put straight back into more lift capacity etc. Investment for this ...
