Saw the comments about only having a skiing break once a year. Two obvious reasons for this are lack of holiday or costs.
If it is lack of holiday I think a new option is now emerging in Bansko. Bulgarian Air now have a return flight (Gatwick) on a Sunday which leaves Sofia at 13:00 rather than 07:30. All,
Saw the comments about only having a skiing break once a year. Two obvious reasons for this are lack of holiday or costs.
If it is lack of holiday I think a new option is now emerging in Bansko. Bulgarian Air now have a return flight (Gatwick) on a Sunday which leaves Sofia at 13:00 rather than 07:30. This means you can get up at a sensible time for the trip to the airport. So if you take Thurs and Friday off work, you can travel Thurs (10:30am) and be in a bar in Bansko by 18:30 local time (i've done it). You then have Fri and Sat skiing, before a leisurely return to the airport Sunday morning.
The airport/flight is not overcrowded, if you use a good taxi driver the travelling time is as little as 2hours.
Cost of flight approx £150 each, taxi upto 3 people £45 each way, stay in an apartment for approx £40 per night for the room.
It's not cheap, but if your a snow-junkie its a great way to spend a weekend. A lot easier to organise than the equivalent in the alps - due to availability.
Good idea. But as i can get as much holiday as i want fortunately, id rather book a week for approx same price. Only problem is me work hates me booking of first 3 months of the year basically . Nevermind don't take anymore time of during the year.
