Bansko - communications

Will be in Bansko 5th -12th Feb with my 8 year old son, staying at Perun - lads holiday, wife staying at home with 3 year old as she doesn't do snow.

As we are likely to be in different groups for lessons, was planning to take some walkie talkies to ensure self and son & heir can stay in touch and not lose each other.

Has anyone tried this? Does it work? Is it allowed?

Also re earlier postings re mobile phone costs, does anyone know if there's anywhere in Bansko where you can buy a ...

Also re earlier postings re mobile phone costs, does anyone know if there's anywhere in Bansko where you can buy a Bulgarian pay as you go SIM card - I imagine this might be cheaper than using a UK mobile

Anyone else going to be there at that time with similar age kids?

Cheers

Hi Simon.

Look forward to seeing you there. My daughter (23) is staying at the Perun that week, but we arrive a day later and are staying at the Strazhite just around the corner. There are eight of us including a 9 and ten (girl type!) year old.

Use the search button above and search for walkie talkies. There have been a few postings. We have bought some from e-bay. 3Km radius. That's all that legal! You can get them with a longer range, but they aint legal. Don't know what the penalty ...

Crazy Lady is out in Bansko and may have info in SIMS. If she isn't around this evening, then she won't be around for a week as she's off to Borovets for a week.

re: Bansko - communications

Hi Liam,

Will see you there.

The walkie talkies I have have been lent by a friend but they're standard Argos type issue with a supposed 2 mile range, so hopefully that'll be OK.

I'll let my son know there'll be kids his age about - he's wildly excited about going away, firstly because he's missing a week of school, and also because he thinks without his mum there he'll be able to do what he likes.....
