Bansko - the town itself / apres ski

i've gone to borovets the last couple and love the fact it is so compact and everything being within close walking (or stumbling Booze ) distance (i was staying at the iglika).

we've chosen to go to bansko this year and staying at Hotel Lion- i'm aware its much more of a town than a resort (or perhaps im wrong) - what can i expect? is there 'resort' areas or is it very much spread out i.e. a bit of a maze to work your way around?

any recommended bars / restaurants?

Lots of different places to go.

Really Id say its more of a Mehana resort ie food & drink with a few "night clubs". Mehanas stay open until you leave.

LuckyBansko Piano bar is well regarded
Apres Ski at gondela is also well regarded (if more pricy than others due to its location)
Bansko Square - there are about 5 or 6 bars/mehanas there and then many on the linking roads in each direction however you do need to know which way to go else your going out of town not into the bars ...

Friendly bar good
24hr bar at the fork in the road is good - although food is very british we ate there once when it was terrential rain - we always have local meals as such wouldnt recommend that for food unless your after british food.

Then you have the old town - lots of tiny places there open fires and cracking food with beer at the lowest price you'd ever imgaine.

Other areas are near Lucky Bansko & near the big supermarket on the way into Bansko - they are notably cheaper than more into town. Again local only food but generally live music playe as your eating a meal.

If your after going out getting drunk partying then I guess you'd not really go to the more local bars as they will not be as buzzing more family.
Im 32 now and generally find Im sticking to the Mehanas getting cracking food & a belly full of booze, generally closer to where Im staying purely as Im lazy.
