Bansko -V- Borrovets

I am looking to book a week in Bansko, 3rd week in Jan08. I have been to Borrovets the last couple of years as beginner and thinking about trying Bansko as a change.

Can anyone tell me what differences I can expect??

I loved the party atmosphere in Borrovets and am hopeing Bansko will be pretty similar???

I am also still pretty much beginner level and hoping to build my confidence a little more this time round so are the blue runs pretty easy and not really red runs marked as ...

In my opinion the skiing is better for beginner to intermediate skiers than borovets as the mountain at least when we were there was groomed better. The runs were easier to ski for this reason and as they are more spread out did not seem so crowded. The gondola can be abit of a problem but as we are early starters we never had to queue. As for the nightlife although there is plenty I cuold not tell you that much about it as we were nearly worn out at the end of the day and while we always ...

Night life is much better in borovets as all the bars are close together and busy, found bansko to be very spread out and not much going on. we did find a couple of busy bars but found the drinking to be abit more expensive.
Most people argue different to this but we stayed in the strazite and were paying 5lev a beer were as we were only paying 3.5o in the iglika. as a resort i prefer borovets but for the slopes there is more choice and better lifts in bansko, having been to bansko though ...

re: Bansko -V- Borrovets

Bansko has a better mountain better runs and better lift system. People who use bars pubs clubs etc as a ski resort comparison would be better off taking their holidays in their local back home. Drinks expensive in the uk but savings made on flights ski hire and hotel would balance out the cost!

Ok a bit unfair as we all like a drink but on a ski holiday i'd never sacrifice the skiing experience for the night life.

re: Bansko -V- Borrovets

Can see what you were saying damo, but its not just the night life and cost of beer it was more the fact borovets is in resort and you can walk out and see a slope and get on a chair lift there.
Having been to a few resorts i love that as in pas in andorra you are in the mountain.
Hate seing the mountian in the distance i want to stay in the mountain.
I think thats what makes the holliday for me the resort feeling.

Hi Vicki, I have been to Borovets 3 times now, we did try Bansko one year and yes the slopes are more varied, a couple of them right up the top marked as blues really scared me but there are a few really nice ones. much prefer Borovets on atmosphere, in Bansko the daily trek and journey up the cable car a pain, we went at half term and the queues were horrendous we gave up getting there on time for the ski school, found the queues not so bad later in the morning. The food/bars on the runs at ...
