Bansko Closed???

Just looked at Ski Club of Great Britain snow report. It says that Bansko had 10cm of new snow yesterday but the resort is temporarily closed. Why????????

Any info appreciated.

re: Bansko Closed???

Because of strong wind blowing, ski facilities in Bansko Ski Zone haven’t worked. The wet fallen snow is precondition for increasing of avalanche risk. There is a fallen avalanche in the Banderishka polyna area

re: Bansko Closed???

This is a bit concerning, can anyone confirm that every lift is closed ?? it is quite a common occurance in some other resorts to close some lifts for high winds or risk of avalanche but i have never heard of a whole resort closing...

re: Bansko Closed???

Hi Steve,

I have been onto banskoski.com and it seems the whole piste is closed at the moment. It will be quite ironic if I have problems and then you go out on 19th March and have superb conditions.

Shan't panic yet though.

re: Bansko Closed???

Hi Val,
I don`t get that sort of luck, knowing what normally happens to me i can expect an eruption on the Pirin mountain and the village to be covered in lava that most probably won`t be covered on my insurance...
It is a worry though that they will close the whole resort, i will have to investigate further. You have a week or so yet so i am sure you will be ok...
