Bansko Locals Not Happy

The local citizens of Bansko will block the E-79 international road in the section leading to the town for 10 to 15 minutes at 4 p.m. today, Monday January 14th.
The local residents will join the latest protest against the construction of a second gondola lift in the resort, as well as new skiing tracks and updates of the plans for the management of Pirin Park.

Around 500-600 people are expected to join the demonstration today.

For several years now Bansko has been under threat due to properties being built without planning permission and the locals are increasingly becoming tired of their town being transformed and in their eyes, slowly destroyed.

Would have thought they would welcome the news of a second gondola and new tracks. It would boost their local economy.

we have had 2 similar protests for the 2nd gondola in the same place, not the main E79, but the main road into Bansko. Their action has obviously prompted the enviro(mental)lists to have their own demo, land of no original idea. The majority of protesters are not actually local but from Sofia. No such good news as bad news Wink
